What is reinforced steel?


Reinforcement steel finds its use in construction as a reinforcement for concrete in construction. Steel is good at compression and tension, but due to the dimensional properties of reinforcing steel rods, steel rods are weak in compression but strong at tension. Concrete is naturally good at compression and weak at tension, while concrete and steel also have a coefficient of thermal expansion. Due to these factors, steel reinforcement and concrete are the perfect pair of construction materials.

HYSD, lightweight steel and TMT steel are some types of reinforcement straps. Of these, TMT steel reinforcement is currently the steel reinforcement. TMT steel bars include grades such as Fe 415, Fe 500, Fe 550, Fe 600 and Fe 700, all of which find their own use in various fields of construction. Higher grades of TMT bars are used in structures such as bridges, elevations, and flyovers, while grades such as Fe415 mainly benefit residential projects.

TMT classes offer good resistance to corrosion and the ability to withstand seismic forces. The ability to withstand seismic forces is largely due to the high tensile strength and ductility of TMT bars, which holds the worlds apart from HYSD bars. An interesting point to note is that when high grades are made, high tensile strength is achieved by compromising the ductility of the TMT bars.
